Responsibilities and Duties

Harley-Davidson Service Technician

Northwest Harley-Davidson is currently looking for an experienced Harley-Davidson Technician to join our award-winning team. Must be able to repair, customize, perform maintenance, or overhaul both customer and dealer owned motor vehicles. Maintain excellent quality work and a positive attitude.

Responsibilities and Duties

Service Department Operations

  • Provide prompt, dependable, high quality, vehicle service to (internal & external) customers.

  • Complete repair work within the scheduled or allotted time period whenever possible. Continually improve this “efficiency” skill.

  • Maintain productivity.

  • Accept work assignments from Service Writer / Manager and perform in correct order.

  • Request parts quote for the job as early as possible when needs become known. Do not start repairs before authorization is received from the customer.

  • Perform service, repair and customization work in accordance with factory specifications.

  • Assist Service Writer, when requested, with writing up work orders, communication with customers including clarifying customer concerns or any other issue which will help ensure customer satisfaction.

  • Notify Service Writer / Manager of any additional work needed or any delays in expected completion as soon as they become known so that customer may be contacted for authorization or notified of the delay.

  • After a job is finished, ensure proper completion and filing of paperwork.

  • Keep work areas as clean as possible and assist others with maintaining shop cleanliness.

  • Maintain technical qualification by completing any necessary training programs when they become available or assigned to you by the Service Manager.

  • Care for Company-owned tools and return them to correct location as soon as finished with them. Report any damaged tools immediately.

  • Report all damage to any vehicle while in our care regardless of who is responsible to the Service Manager, Shop Forman or Service Writer immediately.

Customer Service

  • Minimize come-backs and deal with them promptly and satisfactorily when they do occur.

  • Keep customers’ vehicle cleaner that when it was dropped off.

  • Answer customer questions as needed.

  • Give a complete description of repair on work order including problem found and repairs performed.

  • When finished with job perform “One last QA/look over of R.O. and bike” before test ride to assure all concerns where addressed and of satisfactory quality.

General Motorclothes Associate

Northwest Harley-Davidson is looking for a General Motorclothes Associate to join our team! Are you passionate about delivering a unique customer service experience? Are you passionate about the Harley lifestyle and brand? If you answered yes, we want to talk to you! You’ll work closely with customers as well as participate in bike events, workshops, parties, and rides. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide excellent customer service to all of the dealership’s customers

  • Possess the ability to work with several customers at one time while maintaining individual customer satisfaction

  • Handle telephone transactions quickly, and courteously

  • Assist customers with their selection of merchandise and offer additional product that compliments the purchase

  • Handle customer complaints reasonably, showing empathy and a positive attitude, and demonstrate our commitment to excellent customer service

  • Assist Motorclothes Manager with attaining retail sales plans in General Merchandise.

  • Assist with set-up, organization, and staging of special events

  • Continuously maintain showroom product availability by stocking shelves and displays.

  • Maintain update customer mailing lists

  • Attend training sessions to keep current with merchandising & inventory control issues

REQUIREMENTS:

Motorcycle Service Wrtier

Our Service Writers intake customer vehicles, determines service needs, schedules work, assigns jobs to service technicians and communicates job status to customers.

Responsibilities and Duties

1) Service Department Operations

  • Assist Service department manager in maintaining a smooth running efficient service department with a high degree of customer satisfaction.
  • Diagnose problems accurately, and clearly describe them on the repair order.
  • Estimate costs and completion times at the point of sale. Clearly, communicate them to the customer.
  • Assign jobs to technicians based on skill level and current resource utilization.
  • Review work-in-progress to ensure quality and timeliness.
  • Occasionally assist technicians when they are having difficulty performing service work.
  • Determine the correct part numbers on repair orders and assist the parts department with picking and posting of parts before a job starts.
  • Perform cashier functions as needed.
  • Make estimates for internal and wreck repairs.
  • Open & close all customer paid, warranty, and internal repair orders.
  • Follow procedures for quick and efficient handling of warranty items, including and proper storage of these items.
  • Become familiar and efficient with all phases of the computer system required for service and parts management.

2) Customer Service

  • Provide superior customer service to both internal and external customers
  • Greet customers immediately, in a courteous and friendly manner.
  • Handle telephone transactions quickly, and courteously.
  • Promptly notify customers of any changes, delays, or additional work needed.
  • Sell additional services by pointing out service specials or additional work needed.
  • Handle customer complaints reasonably, showing empathy and a positive attitude, and demonstrate our commitment to “Make Things Right”.
  • Give special attention to repeat repairs to ensure the situation is corrected.
  • Avoid making commitments which can not (or likely will not) be met. Set customers’ expectations to a level where they will likely be met.

3) Other Duties as assigned.

  • Knowledge and experience with servicing Harley-Davidson/Buell motorcycles, and other products sold by the dealership, or the demonstrated ability to quickly learn them.
  • Experience with point-of-sale and Parts and Service management computer software or the ability to quickly learn due to general knowledge and experience with computers.
  • Current, valid motorcycle license, clean driving record.

Physical Demands

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
  • Occasionally required to bend, stoop, crouch, reach, and handle tools.
  • Occasionally requires the ability to lift 50 pounds of material.
  • Occasionally requires the ability to balance and push an 800-lb. motorcycle.

Working Conditions

  • Frequently works near moving mechanical parts.
  • Is potentially exposed to battery acid, gasoline, chemical cleaning materials or other toxic materials commonly found in a motor vehicle service department.
  • Occasionally, exposed to exhaust fumes or airborne other particles.
